SMEC has operated in Mozambique since 1983, and established a permanent office in Maputo in 2003.
SMEC’s first project in Mozambique was the Mochipanda-Chimois-Beira Road Study, whereby SMEC undertook detailed designs and a feasibility study to assess the economic viability of upgrading the road according to international standards.
Since then, SMEC has undertaken a number of projects in Mozambique including: the development of environmental management procedures for the Ministry of Energy; a capacity building project for the Water Regulatory Council; a road safety strategy audit; and feasibility studies, detailed designs and construction supervision for the 102km Rio-Ligonha to Nampula Road Rehabilitation Project.
SMEC aligns local knowledge with global expertise to address the needs of its diverse client base, and has delivered thousands of projects in more than 100 countries, including Mozambique.
We draw on the skills and experience from across the Surbana Jurong Group to offer enhanced capabilities and reach, delivering a complete value chain of services across Urban Development, Infrastructure and Management Services.
